As a new OCR examiner, full training and support will be provided to ensure you fully understand all elements of your task before you begin marking your first unit.
The vast majority of training is now completed online. Details of this will be sent to you by our training team via email.
Some subject units do still require face-to-face training. If such an event is planned for your unit, then you will be invited to attend in good time via email by our training team.
Face-to-face meetings will generally be held in a Midlands location. Expenses and an attendance fee or teacher release will be available where appropriate.
Training is compulsory and must be completed prior to standardisation.
As an examiner you will participate in standardisation activities which explain the standard set by the Lead Marker and then check your ability to apply the mark scheme consistently to candidates’ responses. Once you have successfully completed standardisation you will go on to live marking.
As a moderator you will participate in standardisation activities which explain the standard set by the Lead Moderator and then check your ability to apply marking criteria consistently to candidates’ work. Once you have successfully completed standardisation you will go on to live moderation.
Once assessment commences OCR will support you throughout your marking session to ensure you have all the guidance you need to complete your task.
You will be part of a marking team and will be assigned a dedicated team leader. You will be able to contact your team leader throughout the marking session should you have any questions or difficulties with any aspect of your task.
You will also have access to our dedicated assessor support line which has expert staff on hand to answer all other questions you may have
