In December 2018 we announced our new Functional Skills English and mathematics qualifications will be available for first teaching from September 2019.
We're inviting centres to take part in pretesting our redeveloped qualifications.
Testing materials before they are used in exams allows us to make certain our exams are accurate and fair. As part of our commitment to quality and fairness, we subject all the materials in our exams to a number of procedures to ensure they are accurate and reliable. One of these quality procedures is 'pretesting'.
Pretests give students the opportunity to practise taking a Functional Skills exam using genuine questions under exam conditions. The test papers are marked by OCR examiners, and candidates receive information about how they performed. This helps students know which areas they need most practice in and gives them experience and confidence in taking tests. For teachers, it helps highlight areas where their students might need more help. There's no charge for taking part.
If you'd like to take part, email us at firstname.lastname@example.org, letting us know if you are interested in pretesting our English or maths papers (or both) and roughly how many candidates you would be likely to register. We will then get back to you with further information.
